About Course

This scope and sequence is a great place to understand more in detail about robotics, computer vision and artificial intelligence in the PRANITI Lab as it gives students an introduction to learning engineering. Along the way, you will be introduced to many of the key resources and materials Shaikshya Kala offers.

Each week gives guidance for what teachers can do before, during, and after class in order to learn the basics of teaching building with the curricular resources. The after class suggestions can be used as discussion prompts, journal entries, assessments or classroom documentation.

16 Week Scope and Sequence

Introduce and recap the students to Robotics, Computer Vision, and Artificial Intelligence. Give students hands-on experience with a simple build, help them get to know the components and experiment with the running of the different kits.

Introduce students to mechanical concepts like structural design, weight distribution, drivetrains, fastening, speed and torque. Help students understand how things come together and use cases for different ways to create motion. Help students understand basic electricity and how circuits work. Students will learn how to control signals using a microcontroller (inputs and outputs) to see how components react to it.

Students design challenges and games for their robots to accomplish set tasks and compete against other teams. Students will make use of themes, concepts and limitations to create interesting, creative and realistic challenges.

Introduces students to additive manufacturing (3D printing) to create a sensor mount. The skills taught include safety, basic measurement, reading and interpreting drawings, basic hand tool use, and handling materials.

Students learn the basics of mathematics required in robot dynamics and implementation, including linear algebra, trigonometry and calculus.

Students learn the basics of mathematics required in computer vision including matrices, quantization and calculus.

Introduce the students to coding with the help of Python or C++. Students learn to plan complex programs in pseudocode so that their programs can be accurate and organized.

Students also learn basic robot movement, using feedback from different kinds of sensors, and creating complex programs using loops and decision-making logic.

Introduce students to techniques in mobility, power, and control systems which are the brains behind the operations. Introduce the concepts in linear controls and take students through various strategies that can be utilized in the various real world applications.

Introduce students to the basics of processing images and how cameras, images and filters came to be and how to use them and manipulate them to extract useful data.

Students learn the difference between how humans and machines perceive color, how machines process them.

Students learn about the basics of machine learning and how they work with practical applications in different fields like medicine, security, defense, search and rescue, autonomous systems and others. Students learn how things work behind the scenes in any machine learning model.

Introduce students to concepts involving what it takes for a drone to fly and perform various tasks.

Students learn to think and speak like a game designer, think in a non-linear process, prompt discussions with their peers. Provide insight to students about evolving a game element from concept to final design. Help explain to the students the power and purpose of incorporating story elements into a game.

Students learn to brainstorm developing ideas and converge on an idea with which to move forward. Guide students a review of the game to look for issues or areas of improvement.

Students judge their peers’ projects and game challenges along with external guidance and understand the thought processes that they have gone through.

Help students who need a little push to finish their course program.
